One Monday, in Chongquin, China, the worst earthquake ever took place and killed nearly 9,000 people.
It also trapped 900 students under the rubble of their school, where there was a toxic chemical leak in the ceiling.
Eighty percent of the buildings in the city of Sichuan were destroyed.

Plagiarism- Why is it bad?
Plagiarism is when you copy text from a website, book, etc. and present it as your own work. Plagiarism is bad because it does not help you learn anything but lying about your work. This shows dishonesty, laziness, and lack of creativity. It can really effect what you do in school or anywhere. You can get expelled out of college for plagiarizing. This can cause trouble.

ABBA drummer dies in apparent accident
This event takes place in Madrid, Spain. Ola Brunkert was a Swedish drummer of a pop group. A Civil Guard spokeswoman said he died on Sunday in Spain’s Mediterranean island of Mallorca in the town of Arta. The police believe he fell against a glass partition and it cut his throat. This is because he was found in a garden covered in blood. An official cause of his death was found after his autopsy. Ola was born in 1946 in Sweden. He played the drums to his first single,”People Need Love.” This was according to ABBA’s official website.

Four Killed In Martin County Plane Crash
In Indiantown, Florida, four men were killed in a plane crash near a luxury home northwest West Palm Beach. The officials who witnessed the crash said their identities were not released. The crash took place in a cow pasture. The plane landed upside down when it crashed. No one else was injured and no other homes were crashed during the plane crash. It was said that this crash took place on a Thursday and was the third fatal plane crash for their company in the last five months.

Mom throws kids off bridge,then jumps;all survive
In Dallas, Texas, a 28-year-old mother threw her two sons off a bridge. Her sons were ages 6 and 8. After she threw her sons off the bridge, she jumped off as well. The mother and her children were taken to hospitals. The mother was taken to one hospital and the boys were taken to another hospital. Luckily, they all survived.
One of the boys had a broken arm, but was doing very well. The mother was hit by a vehicle while she and her boys were getting out of a man’s car. The police are still searching for the man. It seems the mother threw her two children off the bridge to save them from getting hit. That was a good thing she did.

Study: 1 in 4 teen girls has an STD
Today, STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) are becoming more common in teen girls. Thats more than 3 million teens worldwide. STDs come from a virus that causes cervical cancer that can also cause sexually transmitted diseases in teen girls from the ages of 14 to 19. The highest overall is black girls. Nearly half the the blacks had one STD while only 20% of white and Mexican-American teen girls had it.
Nearly 40% of teen girls acknowledged having unprotected sex. Some said it was just an intercourse while other said oral sex can easily spread infections. For many of these young girls, it is overwhelming to hear about the infection have sexual intercourse can spread. It is also overwhelming to know that once you have an STD, you will have it for the rest of your life. This is because there is no cure for STDs yet.
Dr. Margaret Blythe, an adolescent medicine specialist, knows what they go through and can help them by giving them treatment or medication for it. Teen girls are way too young to be having sex and should think about the problems it can do to their health before they choose to do so. They are not mature enough to know about sex and should wait until they are adults and married before they have sex. Teen girls should really be careful about the choices they make because it can lead to problems in your life.

My Reaction to Career Day’s Guest Speaker/Giants
Blog 1: I was very interested in what Friday’s guest speaker had to say. I liked how he expressed his feelings about 9/11. I also liked the stories he shared about his life. They made me feel how important it is to remember that day. I was only in 4th grade when 9/11 happened and I really did not understand what really went on. After hearing the speaker’s story, I understood more. In other words, I was very pleased.
Blog 2: I am not a football fan, but I help my parents, who are Giants fans, cheer for the Giants. At the beginning of the Super Bowl game, the Giants were losing and I thought they would lose for sure. It was not until this morning when my mom told me the Giants won. I was so happy and surprised, so were my parents. I hope the Giants continue to play hard and I wis them the best of luck.
